Why bill by sessions instead of page views?
A session represents a unique visitor over a given period — it is the real business unit of a CMP: one consent = one session. Billing by page views inflates the volume artificially (a visitor browsing 10 pages would count 10 times). With ConsentLab, you pay for what you actually cost the infrastructure: collecting each consent.
What happens if I exceed my monthly quota?
Your banner keeps working — that is a GDPR obligation, we never cut it off. You receive a warning email at 80% of quota and an upgrade proposal when you actually exceed it. You can also enable auto-scale in your dashboard so we automatically move you to the next tier.
Unlimited domains, really? Even on the free plan?
Yes. This is our structural differentiator: one ConsentLab account covers as many domains as you want, including on the free plan. None of our European competitors offer this — Axeptio, CookieYes and Cookiebot all bill per domain, which makes their "free" plan unusable past a single site.
Annual vs monthly pricing — what is the actual difference?
The annual plan costs around 20% less per month (e.g. €19/month annual vs €24/month monthly for 50,000 sessions). You pay the full year upfront and get two months free. Monthly billing keeps you flexible to cancel anytime.
Can I change tier mid-subscription?
Yes, both ways. Upgrade: the difference is prorated and billed immediately. Downgrade: you keep your current tier until the end of the paid period, then automatically switch to the new one. Everything is self-serve from your billing dashboard.
Is there any commitment? Hidden fees?
